DLH created Infinibyte® Cloud, a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering that provides a flexible, secured, highly available compute platform. The platform delivers virtual machines (VMs) that can support web hosting, databases, and applications as required by customer needs.

Infinibyte has been specially architected and engineered to meet federal information security and compliance requirements. Consistent with the government’s Cloud Smart strategy of accelerating agency adoption of cloud-based solutions, Infinibyte provides a cost-effective platform focused on security, interoperability, portability, reliability, and resiliency. Infinibyte is Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) certified.

Infinibyte can be used to provision Windows and Linux-based VMs on which customers scan then run their own services and applications. This provides customers with a secure-cloud based foundation for their information systems and data, with enough flexibility to run and support their own configured stack. Infinibyte also natively offers database and web hosting services, which can be configured to customer requirements.

By providing a platform-as-a-service, Infinibyte takes responsibility for more than just the traditional infrastructure of a service provider. Recently, misconfigured Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure servers were discovered to be at fault for several data breaches. Infinibyte offers technical expertise in cloud hosting so customers can have peace of mind, knowing that their systems and data are secure.

Budget transparency – no hidden costs or fees

Infinibyte Cloud provides transparency to its customers. Unlike many cloud hosting providers, Infinibyte does not charge for data transfers, disk read/write operations, egress traffic, and AP calls, to name a few. These hidden and extra costs often result in unexpected and unpredictable charges, leading to budget overruns.

Platform Value-Added Services and Applications

Infinibyte Cloud delivers a secure, flexible, and highly available multi-tenant public cloud service platform to meet the needs of commercial and Federal customers. Infinibyte staff manage and maintain all service layers up to the virtual machine, as well as multiple value-added services and applications that augment functionality and security.

Data Center

Infinibyte utilizes collocated data centers to provide physical and environmental hosting. The Primary Processing Facility is located in an Equinix data center in Ashburn, VA. Equinix facilities offer a global average uptime of 99.999% with N+1 and N+2 redundancies of their core infrastructure systems. The Secondary Processing Facility is located in a TierPoint data center in Morrisville, NC. The physical aspects of these facilities are managed and monitored by data center staff. This includes implementing and maintaining security systems and controls to protect Infinibyte equipment and information.

Networking

The Infinibyte Cloud network architecture uses a layered approach to providing connectivity, core infrastructure, and security services. Each data center has multiple firewalls and switches for managing and securing traffic. Every network segment has a virtual firewall interface, allowing the firewall to control all data flow internal to the PaaS as well as traffic that crosses the boundary. Each data center has multiple Internet circuits with an encrypted 10GB private circuit connecting the two data centers.

Infrastructure

All servers and storage are owned and operated by Infinibyte Cloud. Servers and storage are modular in design, allowing for rapid expansion to support increases in systems and data. Infinibyte uses self-encrypting FIPS 140-2 validated drives to enforce encryption at rest.

Virtualization/Presentation/Authentication

Infinibyte runs a completely virtual environment, leveraging VMware for virtualization and performance. VMs are presented to customers through Citrix Application Delivery Controllers with the FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module. Multifactor authentication with Active Directory and RSA tokens are required for remote access into the PaaS.

Enclave

Every Infinibyte Cloud customer is provisioned a dedicated enclave to ensure separation of systems and data. This is accomplished through dedicated Active Directory forests, dedicated virtual local area networks (vLANs), and dedicated disks. All systems in Infinibyte, including Internet access from within the VMs, employ a deny-all, permit-by-exception (whitelist) policy to allow only authorized services, ports, and access.

Virtual Machine

Infinibyte provides Microsoft Windows and Linux-based virtual machines. In addition, database and web hosting services are core offerings, including Microsoft SQL with IIS and Oracle with Apache. As part of Infinibyte’s value- add, a number of software and services are provided and configured, at no additional cost, including:
